Phew - one week done! 6 days of Ripped in 30, one "rest day" run of 2 miles, not weighed in today because Friday is my regular weigh day, but I'm pretty sure I havent lost anything, I feel heavier which might sound ridiculous but its true, you know when you have lost don't you? I'm hoping that it's a gain in muscle, so i'm going to weigh on Friday and use the extra functions that tell you how uch of that weight is fat, water etc and record that too, so if I gain or stay the same at the end of the 30 days i'll know what's muscle although i'm hoping i'll be able to see that just from the pictures.
So here are day 7 pictures, personally I can't see any difference, but i'll just keep going and hoping!
I can't wait for a picture where my stomach doesn't look like some sort of bloated sausage.
Right now even though I'm not seeing results - no weigh in or measurements taken yet and I don't think any change in pictures - I'm feeling really positive about getting back into exercise even if doing something everyday might not be sustainable once this is over. I really love logging the exercise on MyFitnessPal and seeing my weekly targets being exceeded.
Food yesterday was good, porridge with a banana for brekkie, no morning snack - after the porridge I'm just not hungry, lunch was 2 eggs fried in a teaspoon of oil with wholemeal toast and beans, and then for tea I had a lush stir fry, prawns, brocolli, green beans, baby corn, sugar snap peas and mushrooms, no noodles or rice but I didn't miss them at all - mini breakthrough! Snacks in the afternoon were a 1/3rd of a punnet of graze flapjack (yum!) and a protein shake straight after exercise (also yum - I love them)

Day 6
Yesterday I was at my parents house, for some reason they have to have the house hotter than the sun so I have to admit that RI30 was a bit more of a challenge yesterday than i'd have liked!
So here come the pictures, taken in my mums room becuase I had stuff everywhere in mine (in the process of moving everything out - i'm not some sort of messy teen!)
Just so you know the knee strapping and shorts weren't intentionally matched!
Now i'm not sure if its the light or the way i've taken the picture but I think that one is getting worse!
Today is my last day at level 1, i'm a bit scared of level 2 because if this dvd is anything like 30 Day Shred its going to be a long 20 minutes of almost entirely planks!
Food today not so great, not what I ate but how much, a bit under calories so tried to rectify this with a bowl of cereal that I didnt really want.
Calories: 1311 good but I was still 168 under target at RI30 gains me 169 calories, tried a bit harder today to get right up on target.... but i'll tell you all about that tomorrow - right now i've got a date with Jillian.

Day 5
Day 5, Sunday, I was at the in laws so no real chance to do the dvd (not unless i wanted to get laughed at or similar!) so I took all my kit anyway (and the trusty camera!) and I managed to drag my bum out of a lovely toasty bed and out for a run, here are the pictures:
shocking pozture in picture 2 and not exactly the asme as all the others I take as Mr Dens was in charge of the camera (no full length mirror!).
The weather was gorgeous yesterday in south london and as soon as I was out the door, even though it was rally cold I was glad I got out. After a truly shocking attempt at a run on Tuesday I wasn't hopeful but managed to get almost the whole way around my route before I had to stop..... not becuase I was tired or out of breath (much to my surprise) but becuase of my knee, its been nigglign for a couple of days but the pain was unbeleiveable yesterday. A few paces walking and the pain eased so I ran again but had to stop and was twice more for a couple of metres to get home. 2 miles in 22 minutes, not a record breaker but not bad for a rest day :)
Then LUNCH. I went to meet an old school friend in town, an emmental topped burger and half a bottle of wine later the food part of RI30 had gone out of the window!! I'd like to say I regret it but you can't be good all the time can you?

Day 4
Day 4 and a Saturday, hard to get motivated on the weekend but I knew even if I wasn't going to do RI30 I had to take the pictures anyway so EVENTUALLY after breakfast had gone down I got down to it. Here's breakfast by the way:
As you can tell the flub hasn't gone anywhere!
Food was good, breakfast as above, lunch was 6 chicken satay, some watercress and a couple of slices of emmental cheese, then dinner I had dry chicken tikka, bombay potatoes and chick peas, quite restrained I think.... oh and no wine :)
Today ws a different story, but i'll fess up to that tomorrow!
This was yum, soda bread, poached egg, 2 slices of smoked bacon and some mushrooms....mmmmmmmm.

Day 3... of 30
Ok so day 3, i'm a tenth of the way through, a thought that is more than a little bit depressing. My hamstrings are still really tight but i'm battling on and hoping they'll ease - SOON! So yesterday was a good day, under calories, and no booze, which for a Friday i think is quite an achievement as i'm partial to a glass or two of wine. Ripped in 30 done after work and then as I was feeling particlarly motivated I headed out to the gym to hit the cross trainer to see if I could get a gentle stretch of my legs. I may have ditched that in preference of a mile run on the treadmill, 1 mile done in 11 minutes which is a pretty rubbish speed but after a Jillian workout i'm pleased. Then I went on the cross trainer, so all in all a sucessful exercise day!
So here are your photo's for the day - complete with a different pair of tights, blue ones today!
I also managed to get a few snaps of yesterdays food:
Tesco microwave porridge, no added sugar or salt with a banana on top, I also had my daily actimel but had slurped that down before remembering to take the photo!
Lunch was something thrown together with some leftover veggies from the fridge, some frozen prawns, a tablespoon of sweet chilli sauce and some graze seeds scattered over the top. For a meal made in 3 minutes I was pretty pleased.
How sad does that little flapjack look? I had that at around 2pm and then another the same size with a cuppa after dinner as I was under calories.
Dinner was 2 new potatoes cut in half, pea and watercress puree and a plain cod fillet baked in the oven, a healthy version of fish and chips with mushy peas for Friday.
I also had a protein shake after the gym but forgot to take a picture of that,
Food Round Up:
Calories: 1377
5 a Day?: Yup! banana, baby corn, sugar snap peas, brocolli, pea puree (and all yummy!)

Am I ripped yet?
So i'm 2 days in, my hamstrings are killing me, no amount of stretching is helping! Any normal person would take a rest day but I can't just have day 3 off can I? I remember this feeling well from 30 Day Shred, infact I could barely make it up or down the stairs a few days into that so I'm choosing to persevere.
Todays pictures are (sadly) the same as yesterdays, not sure if I was expecting to wake up looking like Kate Moss but im carrying on with taking daily pictures (as long as I remember!) so that at the end I can compare every day and fingers crossed I'll be able to see the progress.
So here we go:
The muffin top remains....
Looking at this pictures has made me realise that I have terrible posture, will try and sort that for future pictures ... maybe it will make my stomach look less big if I stand up straight (potential wishful thinking!)
A close up of the gut for you! I have such bad bags under my eyes but seeing as I take these right before the dvd wearing make up isnt an option, not unless I want it halfway down my face by then end of the 30 minutes.
Still yuck.
And a new picture for you:
Someone commented to me yesterday that I hide my shape well by dressing, I think any form of clothes to cover that bit I hate makes a massive difference.... even if it is massively unforgiving stretchy lycra!
Yesterday was a good food day, just under calories after exercise, 2 protein shakes so well over my daily protein, and under on carbs. Not sure how i'm going to keep that up today, I've run out of shakes! Hopefully my new tub arrives today and noral service will resume.....

Ripped in 30?
So i've not exactly kept up with this food diary have I? Anyway since New Year i've been back at the healthy eating after a minor slip at Christmas (4lbs packed on!) and so on Monday I ordered Jillian Michaels "ripped in 30" to try and right my festive wrongs.
I've taken my measurements and also some hideous "before" pictures in the hope that at the end of 30 days I've got something to show for my efforts.
Vital Statistics:
Weight: 113 lbs (8stone 1lb)
Bust: 33"
Under Bust: 27"
Waist (narrowest part): 26"
Waist (around belly button): 29"
Hips: 35.5"
Thigh (widest part): 21"
Calf: 12"
Bicep: 9"
Even just looking at those measurements its like my top and bottom halves belong to two totally different people!
So I took photo's, and they arent nice but here they are anyway:
This is where the magic happens!
This is me last night before the dvd, i'll be taking pictures every day in a sports bra, legging/short combination to see if any progress is being made, so... from the front:
Notice the gross muffin top i've got going on in the leggings.... those fit when I bought them last year.
From the side:
Where has my waist gone? Next Christmas when I think its a good idea to pig out i'm going to look at these pictures as a good reminder not to!
Another from the side:
By the way i'm not breathing out, that's just how I look when i'm not sucking it in!
And a close up of the trouble zone:

So at least 5 days a week i'll be "ripping" on the rest days I think i'll hit the gym and go for some light cardio, cross trainer, something like that and of course the healthy eating continues too, will try and get back in the habit of taking pictures of it all to put on here.
Wish me luck!!
